Connect Instagram and Messenger

Get your accounts ready and connect in one click.

PiggoChat answers customers through your own Instagram account and Facebook Page. Connecting takes one click: you sign in to Instagram or Facebook and press Allow. There’s nothing to copy or paste, no developer account and no technical setup. Connect Instagram, Messenger or both — they share one dashboard, catalogue and inbox.

1. Get your accounts ready

An Instagram professional account

Instagram only allows automatic replies from professional (Business or Creator) accounts. Switching is free and takes a minute in the Instagram app:

  1. Open your profile and tap ☰ (top right) → Settings and privacy.
  2. Tap Account type and tools → Switch to professional account.
  3. Choose a category that describes your business.
  4. Choose Business (recommended) and finish the steps.

Your followers, posts and messages stay the same.

A Facebook Page (for Messenger)

  • You need a Facebook Page that you manage with full control. Create one at facebook.com/pages/create if you don’t have one.
  • Pages inside a Meta Business Portfolio (Business Manager) sometimes can’t be connected. A Page owned by your personal Facebook profile works.
  • Linking your Instagram to the Page (Page settings → Linked accounts) is good practice, but not required.

2. Connect Instagram

  1. In the dashboard menu, open Instagram.
  2. Press Connect with Instagram.
  3. Sign in to the Instagram account for your store (check it’s the right one if you have several).
  4. Review the permissions and press Allow.
  5. You’re taken back to the dashboard, which shows your @username as Connected, with the date the connection is valid until.

The chat menu

Instagram shows a menu pinned in the chat, built from the features you’ve switched on. Whenever you change features, press Sync menu to Instagram on this page so the pinned menu matches.

3. Connect Messenger

  1. Open Messenger in the menu and press Connect with Facebook.
  2. Sign in to Facebook and press Allow. Make sure your Page is selected when Facebook asks which Pages to share.
  3. If you manage several Pages, PiggoChat asks Choose a Page — pick the one for this store.
  4. The Page name appears as Connected.

Messenger runs the same ordering and booking flows as Instagram. Customers use menu cards inside the conversation (there’s no pinned menu on Messenger, because it shows inconsistently on iPhones). If the chat looks wrong after a change, press Re-subscribe & remove pinned menu.

4. Test it

From a different, personal account, send your business a message such as “Hi”. The bot should reply with your greeting and menu within a few seconds. Try placing an order or booking, then check it appears in your dashboard.

Keeping connected

For security, Instagram and Facebook connections expire after a while, and they stop working if you change your password or remove PiggoChat’s access. We watch them for you:

  • From 7 days before expiry, the channel page and your dashboard show Expires in n days.
  • We also send you an email and a notification (at most every 3 days).
  • Reconnect needed or Expired (in red) means the bot can’t answer customers right now.

Press Reconnect now and allow again — it takes a few seconds and nothing else changes.

Disconnecting

Disconnect on the channel page unlinks the account; the bot stops answering there. Your orders, customers and messages stay in the dashboard. Connect again any time.
